The camera is also lethal on occasions such as the elevator segments on Power Plant and all the drivable cart segments.
Sonic heroes super hard mode full#
You can literally be going full blast on rails in Rail Canyon and not see a lick of what's ahead, and you will have random enemies perched on those blasted rails that you can't react to, whether by fault of camera, draw distance, or both. Some setpieces are made even faster, and the camera DOES NOT COMPENSATE FOR IT. Nigh every pawn has a heavy shield that either needs Power attack spam, or fiddly tornado or Rocket Accel to get off (unless you level up Sonic to 3). Guides saying that it combines Team Sonic, Dark and Chaotix levels and enemy counts were underselling it. Heroes' Super Hard Mode ramps up the enemy spawns to ridiculous extremes. On paper, no continues, no hint rings, limited items, more enemies and more challenging platforming are about a baseline for an extra hard mode. I recognise its flaws and where its execution is most notably poor - controls, combat, camera, repeated campaigns with minimal changes, level design and so on, but I also admit to liking it a fair amount in spite of all this.īefore jumping in, I read about this mode and otherwise came with no real expectations as to what would happen.
In a previous post on this sub, I've put Heroes in the bracket for "okay to decent" games.
